Have you ever wondered if it is actually possible to put all your tasks in a calendar; use it to manage all the demands on your time and achieve peace of mind?
Welcome to Schedule U. We are here to help. Join our community of people who, like you, have imagined a new level of control and clarity from making better use of our calendars.
I’m Francis Wade and for over two decades I have been studying task
management in all its forms. I not only imagined this new possibility– I tried to make it a reality which works.
Like everyone else, I started out failing miserably. To my surprise, “Total Task Scheduling” was much harder than it seemed. So, I gave up after my first attempt, even though my intuition screamed: “There must be a way!”
I was fortunate. Thought I had given up, I met others who found ways to make it work and this encouraged me to keep trying. For about 15 years I have made these techniques a regular practice and they have become a cornerstone of what I teach.
I realize that you may be thinking that “These people are not like me, they must be superhuman; no ordinary person can actually take into account the time each and every task requires. This must be a ‘super-power.'”
I am here to tell you that you can. But first, you must believe somewhere within you that this is possible because here you are… visiting a “School for Scheduling Everything.” Yes, you have a full life and yes, there are lots of demands on your time. But you also hate it when you forget to execute a task you are committed to completing.
Or maybe you are someone who is an ambitious high-achiever who says “Yes” to a lot of your aspirations. As you reach for the stars, you know that you must add more tasks. Each new “Yes” puts a bit more strain on your current workflow, so you are always looking for fresh ways to be more effective. As a result, you are open to the next gadget, system, tool or technique that would push your effectiveness to the next level.
Schedule U exists to meet the needs of you and others who have reached the limits of memory, paper use and To-Do Listing. It’s not a school for everyone, or even the average professional, but it’s meant for those who are ready to explore what it takes to have a positive, productive impact on their lives by grappling with the stuff they most need to do the reach their biggest goals.
On this website I share how I grappled with this skill, first by trying manual techniques. They worked… for a while… until I mysteriously saw myself failing. On the advice of a popular guru, I even gave up Total Task Scheduling, thinking I had made a big mistake. Once again I was back to the use of a To-Do List – but this only made things worse.
I struggled to figure out what I was doing wrong. Fortunately, I found others who were also looking for answers. (Some of them have written articles and books sharing their experiences and research.) The answer in my case? My skills were suitable for only a small number of tasks, as long as I was living in the boundaries of the dependable routines of life in a developed country. I discovered that I needed to become a better Total Task Scheduler, not abandon the approach entirely.
Fast forward…When I wrote Perfect Time-Based Productivity in 2014 I laid out my journey… just in time to be overtaken by a new approach altogether, only two months after publication.
As you probably know, the confluence of cloud computing, the mobile Internet and the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has spurred powerful new developments in robotics, big data and other fields. But it’s also had a quiet impact on task management, via the development of apps which I call “auto-schedulers.”
These programs are changing everything: one day their power will reside within every digital calendar, working behind the scenes. But until then, tools like SkedPal (which I personally use and work for as a consultant), are having an immediate impact that you can learn to harness here.
But in spite of their power, I can say from experience that new software isn’t enough. My years of using these tools daily and reflecting on the effective use of these tools have shown me that users also require a different mindset, plus brand new habits, practices and rituals.
Here at Schedule U, I’ll show you the best of what I (and others) have learned as we combine personal behavior with this very new technology. I will teach you how to expand your individual capacity to manage demands on your time via manual or automatic methods. Plus, I’ll help you decide when an upgrade is right for you and whether a new app is worth the investment. These aren’t trivialities: as I mentioned before. Total Task Scheduling is not for everyone. Neither is any particular app.
One size just doesn’t fit all and I will suggest the conditions under which you should not change a thing about your setup… at least not in the near future.
But if you are one of the busiest people you know, and maybe one of the most ambitious, here’s my invitation: jump into my free, 12-lesson long training: A Course in Scheduling and find out for yourself what it takes to be a Total Task Scheduler.
